Our first stop was the Geirangerfjord, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its crystal-clear waters and towering cliffs. We took a boat tour through the fjord, and the views of waterfalls like the Seven Sisters and Bridal Veil were absolutely stunning. Geirangerfjord is open to visitors year-round, with boat tours starting at NOK 450 ($40 USD) per person. This scenic area is perfect for nature lovers, offering a peaceful escape into Norway's wilderness.
Experience the Midnight Sun in Lofoten Islands
Next, we headed north to the Lofoten Islands, a place famous for its unique landscape, stunning beaches, and vibrant fishing villages. The Lofoten Islands are also known for the midnight sun, where the sun never sets during the summer months. We spent time hiking, kayaking, and exploring the picturesque villages, all while enjoying the never-ending daylight. Hike to the Famous Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock)
For an unforgettable adventure, we hiked to Preikestolen, also known as Pulpit Rock. This dramatic cliff overlooks the Lysefjord and offers one of the most iconic views in Norway. The hike is about 4-5 hours round-trip, and while it's challenging, the panoramic view from the top is worth every step. Entrance to the Preikestolen area is free, but parking costs NOK 200 ($18 USD), and guided tours are available for NOK 700 ($65 USD).
Visit the Vibrant City of Bergen
We also spent a few days in Bergen, Norway's second-largest city, famous for its colorful wooden buildings in the historic Bryggen district. Bergen is the gateway to many of Norway's famous fjords and has a lively atmosphere with bustling markets and cafes. We explored the Bryggen Museum and took the Floibanen Funicular to the top of Mount Floyen for panoramic views of the city and the surrounding fjords. Entrance to the museum is NOK 80 ($7 USD), and the funicular ride costs NOK 100 ($9 USD).
Relax in the Arctic Circle: Tromsø
Finally, we traveled to Tromsø, located above the Arctic Circle, where we had the chance to experience the Northern Lights. This charming city offers a unique blend of Arctic wilderness and vibrant culture. During our stay, we joined a Northern Lights tour and visited the Polar Museum, which highlights the region's exploration history. Tours for the Northern Lights start around NOK 1000 ($90 USD) per person, while museum entrance is NOK 100 ($9 USD).
